Why Backbone Care Exists

My journey in the NDIS started with my son, who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) when he was 8 years old. That moment changed everything — and it set me on a path I’ve walked for over 21 years as a parent and caregiver.

Through those years of lived experience, I saw firsthand how overwhelming the NDIS system can be — the jargon, the confusion, the feeling of not being heard. I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I founded Backbone Care — to be the support I wished we’d had from the start.

Today, my son is 21 years of age and is living proof that the right support makes all the difference. He has obtained an apprenticeship as a baker, earned his driver’s licence, and is now living an independent life. Watching him thrive has been the greatest reward of this journey — and it fuels my passion to help every participant I work with achieve the same.

With my son now thriving independently, I get to pour my energy into Backbone Care — and into caring for my two beloved British Bulldogs, Chewie and Solo, who keep me on my toes at home!

My goal is to help every one of my participants not only reach but exceed their goals, so they can live the life they want and deserve. I stand beside you, ensure your voice is heard, and help you build the independence, confidence, and meaningful future you deserve.
